The problem

The San Diego Sirens needed a new website before launching membership in our inaugural year. We already had a WordPress site but the Marketing Coordinator wasn’t happy about the editing experience and I wasn’t thrilled about doing WordPress maintainance and security.

What I did

  • Built Squarespace website
  • Did some custom JavaScript and other hacks to make our store and calendar work as expected

Where it stands

My role is pretty hands-off at this point. The officers are empowered to update and build pages as needed. As the Tech Coordinator I help guide the team towards plain language, usability, and accessiblity standards from my day job. The project owes a lot to the visual design talents of Troy Ford.
